East Coast Street Styles is a multi-faceted grassroots skate company based out of the greater Moncton area of New Brunswick.

While attending university in Nova Scotia, Riverview native Ross Smith combined his long-time love of skateboarding with his studies in recreation management and began offering skateboard instruction to youth throughout Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. In 2003, Smith founded East Coast Street Styles Skateboard Sessions (EC4S) and continued to offer high-quality skateboarding instruction in Nova Scotia through his company. Upon graduation, Smith moved himself and his company back to his hometown.

Since the move to the Moncton area, the company has grown exponentially. EC4S has been the private managing body of the Riverview Skatepark (Atlantic Canada’s only year-round indoor skatepark) and taught over 3000 young skaters throughout the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario since 2005. In 2007, the company began designing and building outdoor concrete parks. In 2008, EC4S opened up a core skateshop, Surface, inside the Riverview Skatepark.

EC4S has also built a solid skate team: riders not only rep the company, but regularly teach camps and perform demos. The team is primarily made up of skaters from the Moncton area, but includes a few from elsewhere in the Maritimes. The team also has junior members, young skaters who are showing great promise and commitment as they cut their teeth on concrete.

EC4S is core skateboarding. We’re not a big box company that decided to cash in on skating’s fashion value. We’re not a snowboard shop that carries skateboards in the offseason just to get by. EC4S is run by skaters, employs skaters, and believes in skaters.
