Omen Longboards started with the Carbon Matrix, which was the collaboration between a bunch of local Seattle skaters including Nate Blackburn and Trevor Preston. Omen didn’t have a physical location at the time, so the Matrix was outsourced to a local company. Due to the relatively low price tag (compared to other carbon boards) Omen gained some notoriety pretty quickly. After a little under a year, Omen procured space in a north Seattle garage and started producing the first Pike prototypes.

The 2013 Collegiate Longboard Championships

CALLING ALL COLLEGE STUDENTS!! The inaugural Collegiate Longboard Championships will take place May 30, 31 & June 1 in Albuquerque, NM. College longboarders from around the nation will participate in a team competition that will be comprised of distance, slalom and downhill events. Courses have been chosen for each event that will enable longboarders with intermediate level abilities to compete. The winning team will be crowned the 2013 Collegiate Longboarding Champions. Individuals who are not members of a school team will also be able to compete for the individual championship.

The world’s fastest longboarders took to the streets of Calgary this weekend, slowing down long enough to pay tribute to Duncan McRae, a 13-year-old who was killed in a longboarding accident last week. The IGSA World of Downhill Skateboarding championships wrapped up at Canada Olympic Park on Sunday.
