The AXS Gear/Concrete Wave Readers’ Choice survey yielded a tremendous amount of information. Harvard — For the third year, Harvard will host a longboarding competition, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 12 on Old Littleton Road. The road will be closed from the intersection with the center of town to Pinnacle Road. Hundreds of downhill racers will compete for the top podium positions, prizes and a combined $2,000 cash prize purse. More than 20 companies are sponsoring this event, organized by resident Mike Girard.

Check in will be in front of the Old Library, starting at 8 a.m. Practice runs begin at 9 a.m. and the first DH heats begin at 10:45 a.m. The slide jam begins at 5 p.m., after which the road reopens. Award ceremony will be held from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.

For safety’s sake, there will be 150 hay bales lining the racecourse, multiple police officers, insurance coverage and an ambulance on site. Spectators are welcome. There is absolutely no alcohol allowed at the event, and all riders must sign a waiver and register to compete. (Minors must have an onsite witnessed or notarized parent or guardian waiver signature in order to participate.)
