Reader’s Choice: Analysis, Rants and Raves
April 30, 2013 – 2:48 PM | No Comment

The AXS Gear/Concrete Wave Readers’ Choice survey yielded a tremendous amount of information. Almost 4,000 people took the time to fill out the survey, with an average time of 14-plus minutes to complete! That represents almost 40 days’ worth of time! We produced a fully comprehensive listing of all companies in the Concrete Wave Buyer’s Guide. But here, for the purpose of space, we will address some of the key findings from the survey. We instituted two distinct changes this year. First, we changed the actual questions to reflect what brands are actually owned by readers. Rather than focusing on the word favorite,” we wanted to know what people actually had in their quiver.

So we found this article in Transworld about a collaboration between Globe and G-shock. It would have been really nice if they had put some footage of  someone actually riding the board but some surf footage will have to do, I suppose. Well here’s what Transworld had to say.

Globe Launches A New Collaborative G-Shock Timepiece, Boot, & Cruiserboard Collection

El Segundo, California – November 1, 2011 – GLOBE, designers and distributors of footwear, clothing and cruiser skateboards, has released the second installment of the GLOBE x G Shock product collaboration including a timepiece, boot and cruiserboard. The products will be in-stores worldwide early November.

“Having been an admirer of G-Shock for as long as I can remember, and having had such a good time working on our first shoe and watch collaboration with them, I was stoked when G-Shock asked us about a follow-up project,” said GLOBE’s Global Product President Matt Wong.

Inspired by military night operatives, this collection includes, a uniform matte black GRX5600GE-1 timepiece, the Comanche Boot, and a custom cruiserboard. With cohesive attention to detail, industry leading technologies, a color pallet featuring matte black with contrasting red accents, along with a subtle integration of the GLOBE x G-Shock branding, makes this limited product offering essential for the action sports lifestyle.

Staying true to G-Shock’s toughness and technology, the GRX5600GE-1 features, Shock Resistance, 200M Water Resistance, Tough Solar power and tide/moon graphs making it the perfect accessory for any action sport enthusiast. In addition, the timepiece is loaded with all the other features one would expect from G-Shock.

GLOBE’s all new Comanche Boot is made from irregular leather, canvas and shaved suede for a vintage military look, has a rear zip entry, waxed rope laces and a metal speed lace collar to tie things up. It’s completely skate-able and comes with a custom vintage dog tag.

The Cruiserboard is 8.5” x 32” and is constructed of 7-ply hardrock maple with custom Globe EVA traction foam grip that’s easy on the feet. Premium 58mm/78A urethane wheels and Slant trucks with GLOBE first bushings to provide a smooth and nimble ride.
“Our partnership with GLOBE has been very successful,” said Shigenori Itoh, CEO of Casio America. “We share the same interest and lifestyle and we want to continue this type of ongoing relationship with like-minded brands such as GLOBE.”

The limited edition GLOBE x G-Shock timepiece, boot, and cruiserboard collection is now available at select fashion and action sports retailers. For more information visit www.globe.tv
