Skateboarders and snowboarders in Isanti now have a local shop to buy all their new gear. Town Boardshop celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, Oct. 19. They sell skateboards, longboards, snowboards, accessories and other gear. Starting in the spring, they’ll also sell wakeboards. “The goal is to become a staple in Isanti, try to create programs and try to become part of the community,” co-owner Jason Lloyd said. “We want to keep it all local here in Isanti.” Skateboarders and snowboarders in Isanti now have a local shop to buy all their new gear. Lloyd has been skateboarding and snowboarding since he was 12 years old, and his business partner and friend Paz has been boarding for 25 years. Combined, they have about 40 years experience. Lloyd said they’d like to grow the Monster Lab skateboard brand and eventually make their own boards.

“It sounds like a great business opportunity,” Isanti Mayor George Wimmer said. “The energy of a business like this brings to a downtown, it becomes a destination-type business.”

Town Boardshop is located at 106 Main Street East in Isanti.  Hours are 12 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Find them on Facebook by searching for “Town Boardshop.”
